LaunchPad is Data Science Malta's project route for learners, teams, schools and organisations that want to build around a real problem rather than simply follow a standard topic sequence.
WHAT LAUNCHPAD IS
A guided build process, not another lecture series.
LaunchPad starts with a problem, goal or idea. The tutor helps shape the scope, choose an appropriate technology route, plan the work and move towards a demonstrable prototype or analytical outcome.
Data & analytics
Turn a question into a dataset, analysis, dashboard, visualisation or evidence-based recommendation.
Software & web
Plan and build a small application, website, interactive tool or software prototype.
Robotics & IoT
Design a physical-computing or connected-device concept using sensors, logic, automation and testing.
Blockchain & smart contracts
Model a distributed-ledger use case, transaction flow or programmable-agreement prototype and test whether the architecture is justified.
Education & social impact
Use technology to address a learning, accessibility, community or social-impact challenge.
THE LAUNCHPAD PROCESS

Frame the problem
Define who the project is for, what problem exists and what success would look like.

Research the context
Review users, constraints, data, risks, assumptions and existing approaches.

Choose the technology
Select tools because they fit the problem, not because they are fashionable.

Design the solution
Map the user journey, logic, data flow, architecture or experiment.

Build the first version
Create a minimum viable prototype, analysis or proof of concept.

Test and debug
Identify failures, weak assumptions, usability problems or technical errors.

Improve
Refine the solution using evidence from testing.

Present the project
Explain the problem, approach, decisions, limitations, evidence and next steps.
